Media Bias?

News Anchor Dan Rather, NPR Reporter Cokie Roberts and a U.S. Marine were hiking through the desert one day when they were captured by Iraqis. They were tied up, led to the village and brought before the leader. The leader said, "I am familiar with your western custom of granting the condemned a last wish. Before we kill and dismember you, do you have any last requests?" Dan Rather said, "Well, I'm a Texan; so I'd like one last bowl full of hot, spicy chili." The leader nodded to an underling who left and returned with the chili. Rather ate it all and said, "Now I can die content." Cokie Roberts said, "I'm a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape recorder and describe the scene here and what's about to happen. Maybe someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job till the end." The leader directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder and Roberts dictated some comments. She then said, "Now I can die happy." The leader turned and said, "And now, Mr. U.S. Marine, what is your final wish?" "Kick me," said the Marine." "What?" asked the leader. "Will you mock us in your last hour?" "No, I'm not kidding. I want you to kick me," insisted the Marine. So the leader shoved him into the open, and kicked him. The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9mm pistol from inside his cammies, and shot the leader dead. In the resulting confusion, he leapt to his knapsack, pulled out his M4 carbine, and sprayed the Iraqis with gunfire. In a flash, the Iraqis were dead or fleeing for their lives. As the Marine was untying Rather and Roberts, they asked him, "Why didn't you just shoot them? Why did you ask them to kick you?" "What!?" said the Marine, "And have you call ME the aggressor?

As you can tell I got the truck muddy after a couple of big rains we had in Stillwater. We went down Cottonwood and Copperhead. If you haven't ever been muddin, find a 4x4 and go the next big rain you have.

U.S.M.C.

Some of you might not yet know but I am planning on joining the US Marines. I hope to ship off to MCRD San Diego in March or April, but we'll see how that all ends up going.

The trick is that I have to lose allot of weight to ship so be praying for that.

Also as a side note Casey Crowdis and I are planning on making a documentary on my experience getting ready for the Marines, so be sure to check back soon for more info.

Trip to Brayman, Wakita, Nash and beyond.

A couple of weeks ago I went with a buddy of mine to his parents house in Brayman, OK to pick up his dune buggy then head over to Wenoka for sand fest out at Little Sahara, but it got rained out. So instead we headed up to Wakita, OK for there Settlers Day festival and to see Whiskey Moon play. After that we headed over to Nash, OK then back down to Stillwater.

Top picture is Wakita main street, the one below it is of Wakita off in the distance. And then at the bottom is Russel trying to get the buggy going.

OK State.

As I am writing this OSU is 4-0 and is ranked 21 in the nation, which is incredible. The pictures are from the first home game of the year in the new "Boon Pickens Stadium."

I hope the best to the team the rest of the year.

Sorry. I'm finaly back.

Well it has been a while and I am finaly going to make a few posts here and give yall an update on my life and what I got planed.

CNC at OSU

OSU just got tow new HASS CNC machines, and unfortunatly they are not the one to the left, those are some random pic I pulled of the web.

I went to my first class in the Machine shop today and probably will be going back to work on my first part tomorrow after class. The manual side is alright just small and the CNC side is small also but the guy who is incharge is a cool guy and offered me a job next semester of year, so we will see how that goes. Hopefully I will be in Florida at a film school but if not it could be a fun job to have so we'll see.

On a fun little side note I turn 18 in 3 days and the first OSU home football game is in 2.5 days so that should be fun.

Just a quick lettle update.

It is 6am as I wright this and I have a 9am class so if I go to sleep now I might as well not even consider going.
You might be asking, why did you not go to sleep earlier? Well the truth is that I finished all my math homework and am currently writing a 2-3 page paper on an article I had to read for my comp1 class.

At 2:30pm I have Comprehensive American History, that is an overbooked class so we'll see how that turns out.

All in all it was a good day, and I'll see whats goin on in tomorrows classes and if the internet keeps working then maybe I'll have another post tomorrow. So be looking for that.

Rain

Sitting out on the porch of the house it began to rain and at first it was a nice little sprinkle. As of right now it's absolutely poring down and I can here it on the roof of the house, and if you think that I am on the second floor well then your wrong. I can here it on the first floor.
Rain to me is a relaxing time, grass and plants get replenished, and refreshed by it so why can't we.

Well I went and picked up my season football tickets today and almost wanted to kill the people behind me. The girl behind me was with her brother and boyfriend. After getting over the hilarity in the way she talked (Upwards inflection at the end of every sentence that came out of her mouth so that it sounds like a question.) I also found out that she has two other sisters and one is at Harvard Med and the other is at MIT so I kind of chuckled at that and though "wow"

So that's my day and I am outty.

And Here We GO!!!!

Well school now starts in 4 1/2 days and hopefully I am going to be ready. As I start this new school year I cant help but wonder if it is actually what I am supposed to do. My mind is a M.E. student at OSU and my heart says I need to be someplace like the Full Sail Film School. The only problem about doing what my heart wants to do is the money factor. So I don't yet know what is going to all happen.

I couldn't find any cool little pictures to add to his post so I decided to just add this cool little animation from vimeo, that I found

The apps currntly on my iPhone include Bible, BoxOffice, Facebook, Flashlight, NearPics, PhoneSaber, Remote, Shazam, and SnapMyLife.

Some of these are completly worthless like SnapMyLife and PhoneSaber, but some I love like Shazam and Bible. Bible is the iPhone Apps verson of Lifechurch.tv's You Version and Shazam is a music identifier and music tagger.

Others like Remote is a WiFi remote for iTunes and Apple TV.

I'm going to try and keep you up to date on others and apps upcoming so check back soon.

The Dark Knight

Last night I went on the spur of the moment to the Carmike 10 in Stillwater and watched The Dark Knight. Now for those of you who don't know it is the new batman movie that came out this month, staring Heath Ledger as the Joker and Christian Bale as Batman. I had some doubts about the movie going in, one being it seemed a little dark for Batman, but after geting into the movie you dont even notice.
My usuall movie experience is I go into the theater and dont even watch the movie for the story, I try and see how that scene was cut and how that effect was done. The Dark Knight was not his way at all, as I walked into the theater I was excited to try and figure out how stuff was done, but after about just a few minutes I found myself just watching a movie for a movie.
All around it is probably the best movie I have seen since either Oceans 13 or The Bourne Ultimatum, which is saying allot.

http://web.mac.com/skylarschipper/

Yes this is my web site but I will still be blogging here, simply because I like dont like the way iWeb has it set up and I dont want to spend the time changing it.

The Downpour Media Shoot

Last weekend was crazy. And when I say crazy I mean it. Friday I got to Del City at about 4pm and we shot baseball for about four hours. After finally going to sleep at around midnight thirty (12:30am) we woke up at 7am Saturday morning, and at 9 we left to go and film the soccer games at 1pm we got food and headed back to baseball and finished up at about 6pm.

That night I went to the apple store in Penn Square and got personally walked into the store by an employee that I knew, and granted I wasn't purchasing an iPhone 3g but I did get some great looks form the people in line.
Sunday we got back to work, with basketball at 9:30am till about noon, then it was back over to baseball. We ended the weekend exhausted and tired and I can thank Marshal Burgtorff for a fun and tiring weekend.

On a side note Grant Downy uploaded an amazing video to vimeo that I thought should be shared with you all.

Trip to Norman and the JVC HD110

Today I made a trip up to Norman, OK. The purpose of that visit was to view and play with a Panasonic HVX200b, to the uniformed this is a Panasonic HD P2 video camera. When I got to the store I saw one then the guy started telling me all about the JVC shoulder mounted HD cameras. I'm not a huge fan of shoulder mounts bout I thought I'd give it a look. When he brought it out it was a lot lighter and more stream lined than I had pictured it. After talking for almost 2 hours he had me totally convinced on the JVC over the Panasonic, and I know you might be saying that he just wanted to make a larger commission, but the catch is that the JVC actual costs less, by almost $1,000.00 and it has greater functionality, including still recording to the same tapes I currently use.

On the Way back it pored down rain, and I snaped what I thought was a cool little pic. (Top)

The 4th Pictures

Some of my favorite pictures that my cousin Andy took on the 4th of July 08.
Be sure to click on them to see them at full scale and download them as desk top backgrounds, cause they make amazing ones.

Catch Yall Up

I decided to update everybody on whats going on as I'm sitting watching my footage get processed through Color.
The picture off to the left is my set up at Main Office H2OChurch.tv and currently what I have been looking at for the last about 10 hours getting this video done.
As a side note I created a Flickr account, but I don't have any pics up yet. You can follow the link off to the right titled "My Flickr." I'll let everyone know when I get some pictures up. Also I'm going to upload the second At the Movies promo I did to Vimeo either tonight or tommorow so b shure to be on the lookout for that.
Only 4 more days untill iPhone 2.0 firmware update and I'm extreemly excided to see what kinds of cool litle programs they are going to have for the consumer ie. me to friter there money away on.
Another little side note is that I only have 41 more days untill I have to start colledge at OSU back in Stillwater. I have some mixed feeling on this and am still not shure if I want to go with griffic desighn or Mechanical Engeneering. And to all of you asking yes I have declared ME but that can allways change.

Vimeo And the Reel

Some of you may not know but there is an incredible site out there called Vimeo. Vimeo is a video website that is for professionals and people who create there own stuff. Mine is http://www.vimeo.com/skylarsch so go check it out. Vimeo is an incredible site, because it doesn't limit you on the quality of your video, the only set back to this is that it won't allow you to upload more than 500mb a week.
Also as a side note I will have a Show Reel coming out soon that you can check out at my Vimeo and I'll also embed it into a blog post coming up, so be on the look out for that.

Quiet Sight

Yesterday I traveled to Oklahoma city to assist Quiet Sight Productions (Casey) shoot a session with Quinn Schipper for Oikos. The shoot went well and from the camera I was on I thought we got some great footage for Casey to put togeter. The session we shot was an inner healing ministry session that Quinn facilitated. The session was the first ever that was done infront of a crowed and I thought it went very well, but what do I know.
Afterwards I went with Casey and Marshal over to Caseys mother in laws house and went over some stuff. Well thats about it on that I've got another post that im gonna wright now just about random stuff so we'll see where that takes us.
